Hello! I’m Amalie and I make up half of the Studio 309 team! I was born and raised in Northwest Iowa and after pursuing a degree at Iowa State decided it was time to move back home to be close to family, friends, and my darling husband. After a few years working in the business world I realized I needed a creative outlet and decided to start a college program in photography. I was in the middle of my first pregnancy and complete home renovation when Euvonne and I “re-met” and decided to start the 309 adventure (more on that to come.) I have been blessed with an amazing family that consists of my husband Matt, feisty daughter Evelyn, and sweet son Morris. We live on a fixer-upper acreage by Spencer that keeps us busy during our off time. Coffee keeps me functional, many are surprised to learn that I appreciate a good swear from time-to-time, and I love over-using exclamation points!!!! Photography has been such a splendid and blessed journey for me. The opportunity to preserve moments and memories for our clients is a true joy and honor!
While Euvonne and I did go to high school together, we weren’t close friends until we had photography in common. In 2014 I was about to finish a photography program while Euvonne was plugging away with her own photography business. I had no idea what I was going to do with this new photography diploma and had always admired Euvonne’s work from afar so one day decided to send her a Facebook message simply saying “Hey, wanna grab coffee and talk about taking pretty pictures?” That coffee date lasted nearly three hours and by the end of it we both knew we were destined to be partners-in-crime. Sometimes the stars align and you just know it’s meant to be. We both bring very different experiences and strengths to the table yet are (almost) always on the same page.
When we began our business we wanted to photograph EVERYTHING. We quickly realized that photographing everything made for crazy, busy schedules that didn’t leave much time for development and the high level of customer service that we wanted to provide. We knew our passion was photographing couples and seniors so we decided to jump in full force and now mostly book couples and seniors as clients. We LOVE getting to know each and every one of our clients and creating an experience that is as unique and special as them and now have the availability to do just that!
Hey! I’m Euvonne and I make up the other half of the Studio 309 team! Amalie did such an amazing job of telling our story that I’m not sure there’s much more to add. You’ll quickly learn that Amalie generally has far more words to share than I do. I’m clearly the introvert between the two of us! The differences in our personalities complement each other so well and at this point we can practically read each other’s minds during a photo shoot! This connection helps keep things running smoothly on wedding days!
Like Amalie, I was also born and raised in Northwest Iowa. After graduating high school, I attended Buena Vista University and majored in graphic design. I quickly learned that photography was my passion and could not wait to learn more! I took all of the photography courses that were offered and a few additional independent studies. I was hooked!
Being an introvert, I was so surprised to learn that I LOVED photographing people! I still think it’s so cool to be able to connect with someone and capture their personality through a photograph. After graduating college I immediately started my own photography business and continued independently for three years before Amalie contacted me for that fateful cup of coffee. Since that meeting I haven’t looked back and could not be happier to have another creative spirit in my corner!
I now live on an acreage, in the home my grandma grew up in. It’s a beautiful 100+ year old home that needs a little TLC (or a lot). Thankfully my husband, Cole, is pretty darn handy! We have a super sweet yellow lab named Fay and two crazy cats, Dill and Mort. I’m an animal lover! If there’s a dog involved in our photo session you better believe I’ll have a hard time containing my excitement! I also enjoy spending my time outdoors. Whether it’s planting flowers (I have a green thumb!), walking through the trees or riding my motorcycle, I just love a good day spent outside!
